Chartres Cathedral

I was lucky enough to be part of a rather unique gathering in Chartres Cathedral this July with the Ubiquity University for the Fifth Liberal Art: Arithmetica. Where the study of Sacred Geometry nourished our souls on a physical and soul level. A gathering of unique and diverse individuals all gathered at this sacred spot to pay homage to the magnificent structure and connect with the Matrix of the Universe.

The harmony of the world is made manifest in Form and Number, and the heart and soul and all the poetry of Natural philosophy are embodied in the concept of mathematical beauty.
—Sir D’ Arcy Wentworth Thompson (1860–1948)

From the world of platonic solids to the Fibonacci sequence we dived deep into the world of the sacred number and how these numbers and magical patterns appear in our everyday, uncovering “Vedic Mathematics,” a 2,500 year old Indian system of Mental Arithmetic which empowers students to perform mental calculations at high speeds. The secret to this is that there are patterns in the whole universe, if we can learn to find the patterns, we are able to discover a whole new realm of understanding. The mystery deepens so to speak.

The whole of Chartres Cathedral is built upon this mathematical mystery, each portal and magical window contains hidden signs and mysteries deep within its' colour and shape. I was in awe each time i stepped into the grand majesty of the building and felt myself, whilst walking the labyrinth as a pilgrim, unravel in the spiral of time as I was greeted by the union of Druidic and Christian teachings. It was a profound journey within both the inner and outer dimension and something particularly timeless as one breathes in the hidden knowledge that is manifest in the sacred structure at a time when there was a unity rather than a separation.

My role at this gathering was to be part of the Sound Centering team with the highly talented Ruth Cunningham, who provided divine music through her voice and harp. Together with some other musicians we provided an invisible space to help open, expand and integrate some of the profound and deeply healing energies of this transformative learning.

I shall write more of this further down the line but see here for more information on this rather incredible yearly gathering and more of what they offer:
